.21 Pipe on a .12, Is This Good?

Comments:  Hey PRO, I was thinking, what if you put a .21 pipe on a .12 engine?  Would it make it faster?  There is more room for air.

Thanks for your time.

Response:  No, a .21 pipe would not be better for a .12 size engine.  You have to remember the point of a tuned pipe, it is to "tune" the back pressure at the exact point in which it can be utilized within the engine to benefit performance.  If you run a larger volume pipe (such as a .21 pipe for a .12) the back pressure will not be timed correctly and reduced performance can be expected.  If you install a good quality header and tuned pipe designed for your engine you can expect a very noticeable increase in performance.  The designers know what they are doing, don't try to outsmart them :-)

I hope this helps,

Let's take off a few tenths per lap,
