Comments: I recently bought a Kyosho Superten with the stock motor, and I am new to gas but a veteran of electric. I am a neat freak and this gas engine is always covered in fuel, it seems like it is leaking everywhere when it is run, and I have seen other cars and they are as clean as a pin when done running, do I have a bad apple or is this normal? I planned on upgrading the engine soon, but I want a "looker" for a car. I have also tried everything possible to keep the muffler on and it still comes loose every other run or so and that is where the majority, (but not all) of where the dispensed fuel is coming from. thanks in advance Response: It is normal for fuel to leak out of the front bearing from the crankcase of a nitro engine because it is not a perfect seal there and the inside of the crankcase is pressurized. Other than that fuel should not leak out of your engine in any other place. Try using a high temperature silicone to seal the engine in places like the carb mount, backplate, and exhaust. Do not use silicone to seal the head as it may drip into the cylinder. Also be sure to not run the engine for 24 hours after using the silicone because the fumes emitted when the silicone is drying will ruin your glow plug. As for your muffler, replace the small Phillips screws with hex head screws. This will allow you to tighten the muffler of a little more. You can also try to add small lock nuts onto the other side of the muffler screws if you have room. As I mentioned earlier, a little high temperature silicone will help as well. Make sure that you completely clean the oil off of your engine with alcohol (methyl hydrate) before you apply the silicone or else a good seal will not result.
